2025 Carbon STEM Summer Camps at Rice University

This summer, more than 450 high school students and 30 educators participated in one of four-week long Tapia Center Carbon STEM Camps at Rice University. This marks over eight years of collaboration between ExxonMobil and the Tapia Center to implement these summer programs.
Led by Rice faculty and staff, the camps teach students that communication and teamwork are vital skills for a successful career in STEM. With a focus in carbon dioxide management, the Carbon Project remains a key part of the summer program, along with programs on computer science and college admissions.
During one of the four weeks, the Tapia Center hosted a professional development program for 30 educators who stayed on campus and worked in groups to develop energy-themed projects that can be applied in their classrooms.
ExxonMobil employees participated throughout all four weeks of the camps delivering engaging presentations on CCS, watching student presentations, and providing industry insights.
