ExxonMobil Participates in Third STEM CCS Camp at Southern University Baton Rouge

For the third year, the Tapia Center at Rice University in partnership with ExxonMobil has brought the Carbon STEM Camp program to Southern University. More than 100 middle and high school students from across the Baton Rouge area experienced a week of discovery, innovation and hands-on learning.
Students participated in a variety of interactive activities and industry-led experiences with a focus on managing carbon dioxide (CO2) and how doing so may play a vital role in building a lower-carbon future.
A full-day field trip exposed students to real-world STEM applications, including a tour of the Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company, a visit to LSU’s Petroleum Engineering Research Training & Testing Lab, and live demonstrations by ExxonMobil Machine Shop employees. ExxonMobil employees also volunteered their time to engage with campers, sharing personal career journeys and answering questions about opportunities in energy and engineering.
