ExxonMobil joins engineering students at University of South Carolina to implement the Tapia Carbon Project

This summer, ExxonMobil had the opportunity to join 17 engineering students from the National University of Science and Technology Oman as they took on the Tapia Carbon Project, adapted specifically for engineering second- and third-year university-level learners.
Hosted at the University of South Carolina, students learned about carbon dioxide and carbon capture and storage (CCS) through hands-on activities, including building a model carbon storage reservoir and participating in the first-ever porosity modeling challenge—where they had to estimate pore space in a vase filled with layered pasta and beans.
ExxonMobil’s participation further highlights our commitment to STEM-learning opportunities for students of grade levels, in the communities we serve and beyond.
